The CERTH/ITI open Day 2017

Tuesday, May 16, 2017 - 00:00
Thessaloniki, Greece
open day

The open day event is a long-term tradition of Information Technologies Institute (ITI) of the National Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). The event takes place every two years, and its objective is to encourage citizens to discover the innovative research conducted in their city, and to present the research development and efforts to business representatives that seek for potential collaborations. The event is organized in cooperation with the General Secretariat of Research and Technology. This year’s open day was also part of “Europe in My Region” (#EUinMyRegion), a European Union-wide campaign, that encourages citizens to discover European projects near them.

Citizens had the chance to get a glimpse of the ground breaking research conducted in the fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality and Informatics in general by the European scientific community. The event featured amongst others the presentment of several past research projects of CERTH-ITI funded by the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF), as well as numerous ongoing Horizon 2020 funded research projects including RAMCIP.

More than 200 visitors, including university students and faculty members from various disciplines, business representatives, and the general public had the chance to get a tour in CERTH/ITI premises. Visitors could watch the RAMCIP promo video, as well as several demo videos while a presenter gave additional information about the project and the research conducted in the context of it. RAMCIP robot was also presented to the visitors at the premises of CERTH/ITI smart house.
